REMASTERING LINUX MINT 10 “JULIA” MENJADI MANUX NPE 1.0

Remastering linux adalah sebuah proses untuk membuat sebuah linux baru dari linux yang sudah ada. Distro remastering berbeda dengan distro turunan.
Distro Remastering :
1. tidak mempunyai repository
2. tidak mempunyai paket khas untuk dirinya
3. tidak mempunyai pemaket yang memelihara paket aplikasi
4. tidak membuat patch paket aplikasi
5. tidak mempunyai penelusuran bug.
Setting Repository
Repository adalah tempat penyimpanan bagi arsip-arsip software, dimana sofware dalam arsip ini dapat diambil oleh user untuk digunakan.
Repository diatur ke dalam empat area komponen:
Main, adalah Software yang didukung secara Resmi
Restricted, adalah Software yang didukung tapi tidak sepenuhnya dalam free license
Universe, adalah Software yang dikelola oleh komunitas (bukan software yang didukung dengan resmi)
Multiverse, adalah Software yang tidak Free
Setting Repository Lokal menggunakan Synaptic atau Sources.list
I. Melalui synaptic package manager
Untuk menambahkan repositori lokal ke linux mint dapat melalui Synaptec Pakcage Manager, sebelumnya buka terlebih dahulu Synaptec Package Managernya melalui Menu → Package Manager. Kemudian Klik Settings → repositories → pilih tab other software kemudian klik add.
Kemudian masukkan link repositroy local yang kita punya, beriku beberapa link repository local untuk linux Mint 10 “Julia”

II. Melalui Source List Jalankan terminal dan loginlah sebagai root, atau bisa menggunakan perintah sudo. kemudian ketikkan perintah berikut :
$sudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list
Setelah itu copykan link repository yang kita punya, kemudian simpan hasil perubahan yang dilakukan.
Ketikkan perintah berikut untuk mengupdate packet :
$sudo apt-get update
B. Modifikasi Interface Linux Mint 10 “Julia” menjadi Manux Npe.
1. Install Icon AwoKen 2.4 Langkah pertama kami dalam memodifikasi interface Linux Mint 10 “Julia” menjadi Manux Npe adalah dengan men-install icon. Adapun icon yang kami rasa sesuai dengan tema kami adalah icon awoken 2.4, untuk installasi icon awoken 2.4 sendiri adalah sebagai berikut:
a. tambahkan repository icon awoken 2.4 pada repository Linux Mint 10 “Julia” dengan mengetikan petintah berikut pada terminal sudo add-apt-repository ppa:alecive/antigone.
b. selanjutnya update repository dengan mengetikan perintah sudo apt-get update.
c. setelah update repository selesai, ketikan perintah berikut untuk installasi icon awoken 2.4 sudo apt-get install awoken-icon-theme.
d. untuk menerapkan icon awoken 2.4 pada linux-nya sendiri yaitu klik kanan pada desktop -> change background -> pilih tab “Theme” -> customize -> pilih tab “icon” -> selanjutnya pilih “awoken”.
2. Install Theme A-New-Hope untuk mengubah theme-nya.
a. Download terlebih dahulu theme A-New- Hope, bisa melalui http://gnome-look.org
b. Setelah proses download selesai kita akan mendapat file theme A-New-Hope dengan ekstensi tar.gz.
c. Untuk melakukan installasi sekaligus penerapan theme, klik kanan pada dekstop -> change background -> pilih tab “theme” -> kemudian klik tab “install” -> cari lokasi penyimpanan file theme A-New- Hope.tar.gz -> klik open
d. Setelah proses installasi selesai, maka akan muncul theme A-New-Hope, klik saja theme tersebut, maka akan secara otomatis theme akan di terapkan pada system.
e. Tips : untuk lebih mempercantik tampilan Theme Linux kita, bisa juga menggunakan software tambahan seperti Emerald dan Compiz.
3. Install Docky di Linux
Docky merupakan salah satu aplikasi Dock Panel, untuk mengintall Docky sendiri ada 2 cara, pertama menggunakan software-manager -> kemudian ketikan “docky” pada tab search -> klik install docky, yang kedua langsung melalui terminal dengan menetikan perintah sudo apt-get install docky, tunggu proses installasi selesai, selanjutnya klik menu -> pilih docky untuk memulai konfigurasi dock panel “docky”. Dengan menggunakan Docky kita bisa meletakkan shortcut program favorit kita menjadi lebih tertata dan memiliki keistimewaan sendiri.
4. Mengubah GDM (GNOME Display Manager) dengan GDM Tweaker
Sebelum mengubah tampilan GDM, download dan install GDM Tweaker, bisa langsung dengan mendownload file .deb-nya atau melalui terminal dengan mengetikan perintah apt-get install gdm- tweaker. Selanjutnya tinggal mengatur konfigurasi Dock Panel Docky sesuai dengan keinginan kita. Klik Apply Changes Adapun fitur dari GDM Tweaker adalah sebagai berikut a. Background Image; digunakan untuk mengubah gambar latar belakang dari GDM kita b. GTK Theme; digunakan untuk mengubah tema GTK dari GDM yang kita miliki c. Icon Theme; digunkan untuk mengubah jenis icon yang digunkan oleh GDM kita d. Hide Username List; digunakan untuk menyembunyikan daftar username yang tersedia pada sistem e. Enable Compiz; digunakan untuk mengaktifkan fitur ccompiz pada GDM.
5. Mengubah Plymouth Linux
Untuk mengubah Plymouth pada Linux, pilih theme Plymouth sesuai keinginan kita, kita bisa menggunakan software bantuan seperti Plymouth-Manager, namun dalam remastering ini, kami mengubah Plymoth secara manual. Adapun langkah-langkah yang kami pakai dalam memodifikasi plyamouth linux adalah sebagai berikut:
a. Download theme plymouth sesuai dengan keinginan kita, bisa melalui http://linuxmint-art.org atau http://gnome-look.org, dalam remastering kami sendiri, kami menambahkan plymouth Earth-Sunrise. Setelah proses download selesai, kita kan mendapatkan file .tar.gz
b. Ekstrak terlebih dahulu file .tar.gz tersebut
c. Kemudian pindahkan directory theme playmouth kita ke directory /lib/plymouth/theme, bisa melalui noutulist ataupun terminal.
d. Lakukan konfigurasi plymouth yang di- install, dalam remastering ini kami mencontohkan konfigurasi plymouth Earth-sunrise.
1. Ketikan perintah berikut di terminal sudo cp -R Earth-sunrise/ /lib/plymouth/themes/ , untuk memindahkan theme plymouth Earth-sunrise ke directory /lib/plymouth/themes/
2. Selanjutnya ketikan perintah sudo update-alternatives --install /lib/plymouth/themes/default.plymouth default.plymouth /lib/plymouth/themes/Earth- sunrise/Earth-sunrise.plymouth 100 Perintah tersebut digunakan untuk mengubah setting default plymouth yang kita gunakan.
3. Ketikan perintah sudo update-alternatives --config default.plymouth, untuk menentukan plymouth mana yang akan dijalankan sebagai default plymouth
4. Yang terakhir ketikan perintah sudo update-initramfs –u , untuk meng-update konfigurasi plymouth yang telah kita ubah.
5. Untuk menyesuaikan thema dari distro yang kami pilih, kami memodivikasi plymouth Earth-sunrise, dengan mengganti beberapa gambar pada file Earth-sunrise.script
6. Sedangkan plymouth defaulth yang di sediakan kami modiv juga dengan mengubah beberapa gambar dengan mengedit file ubuntu-logo.script.
6. Mengubah gambar GRUB
Untuk menggantin gambar background kita bisa menimpa file di direktori /boot/grub dan pada direktori /boot/boot/grub ganti gambar dengan ekstensi .png dengan gambar yang diinginkan kemudian jangan lupa untuk mengupdate grubnya, caranya ketikkan diterminal #update-grub.
Add/remove paket aplikasi
Untuk menambah dan menghapus aplikasi dapat dilakukan dengan beberapa cara, bisa menggunakan fasilitas utilitas dari synaptic manager, software-manager, ataupun via console (terminal). Jika kita menggunakan fasilitas synaptic manager, dapat dilakukan dengan cara memberi tanda atau memberi check list untuk menambah dan menghilangkan tanda atau check list untuk menghapus aplikasi. Sedangkan pada software-manager sendiri, untuk melakukan installasi atau remove aplikasi dapat dilkukan dengan cara searching program aplikasi yang akan di instaall ataupun di remove, bisa juga dengan memilih kategori program yang diinginkan, kemudian klik install/remove.
Berbeda dengan sofware-manager maupun sinaptic-manager, jika kita ingin melakukan installasi ataupu me-remove suatu program aplikasi melalui termainal /console, kita perlu mengetikan perintah. Untuk installasi paket ketikan perintah $ Sudo apt-get install [nama paket aplikasi]
Untuk meremove paket aplikasi ketikan perintah $ Sudo apt-get remove [nama paket aplikasi] atau sudo apt-get purge [nama paket aplikasi]
Dengan catatan pada waktu installasi paket aplikasi komputer kita terintegrasi dengan jaringan, atau terkoneksi dengan internet.

3. Installasi Program Aplikasi Cisco Paket Tracer di Linux
Adapun langkah-langkah installasi program aplkasi packet tracer di linux adalah sebagai berikut;
a. Download terlebih dahulu program aplikasi Cisco Packet Tracer, bisa melalui link ini, http://www.mediafire.com/?hjlwtt2jhya.
b. Selanjutnya masuk ke direktori penyimpanan melalui terminal, misalnya pada directory download, ketikan perintah cd /home/manux/Download.
c. Kemudian ubah permission “PacketTracer53_i386_installer-deb.bin” ke 755, dengan mengetikan perintah chmod 755 PacketTracer53_i386_installer-deb.bin
d. ketikan perintah ./PacketTracer53_i386_installer-deb.bin untuk melakukan installasi
e. selanjutnya akan muncul EULA dari program aplikasi Packet Tracer, ketikan “y” untuk menyetujuinya.
f. Tunggu proses installasi sampai selesai.
