Obama There is No Magic Formula to Stop Violence Assad

U.S. President Barack Obama yesterday said the U.S. and Turkey will continue to press for Syrian President al-Assad Bechar down from power. However, he said there was no magic formula Assad to stop the violence.

"We will continue to increase pressure on the Assad regime, and work with the Syrian opposition," Obama said during a press conference with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan at the White House, as reported by Al-Arabiya television station on Friday (17/5).

"We both agreed that Assad must go down," Obama continued. "There is no magic formula to solve the problem of extraordinary violence and hard as in Syria."

While Erdogan said the U.S. and Turkey have complementary objectives when they talk about Syria. He also said he and Obama also agreed that violence in the conflict-torn country has been more than two years it should be over soon.

"Obama said the only way to resolve the crisis is Assad must hand over power to a transitional government and Turkey will play an important role in that process," said Erdogan.

Obama said he has received evidence that the use of chemical weapons in the conflict in Syria. However, he is still waiting for specific information to take the next step.

When the press conference, Erdo?'s Also announced that he intends to visit Gaza and the West Bank next month.

Erdogan hopes of a planned visit to the Palestinian Authority region could contribute to peace in the Middle East.
